JOHOR BARU: The new e-hailing service, MyCar, which was recently launched in the Klang Valley, will be starting in Johor next month with 1,000 riders having subscribed to be drivers.

Introduced to Malaysian drivers and passengers since February this year, the apps, managed by Platform Apps Sdn Bhd based in Shah Alam, has been registering drivers nationwide.

Platform Apps founder Mohd Noah Maideen said since February the rounding exercise had started.

It is estimated that around 1,000 drivers from Johor had subscribed as MyCar drivers.

Noah said most of the drivers registered to MyCar were former Uber riders.

“The drivers are not only coming from Johor Baru but also from other districts in Johor like Batu Pahat, Muar, Kluang and Pontian,” he said.

Noah said the company targeted former Uber drivers with competitive benefits to both drivers and passengers.

“In Johor, some 10,000 Uber drivers were active. We hope to attract half of them to join us,” he said.

Meanwhile Johor MyCar state manager Hafiz Ngadiman said driver and passenger registration in Johor has been overwhelming.

“We are targeting a launch event in Johor in early May. We are in the midst of looking for a new office set up in Johor Baru,” he said.

MyCar driver Samsul Annuar Mustafa, 37, from Tampoi, said the MyCar app service was still new and not many were aware that it’s already available in Johor.

“However I believe the service will catch up among e-hailing service users as it offers attractive benefits to drivers and passengers alike,” he said.

Samsul said the company was trying to get more drivers to join the MyCar fleet of drivers in Johor.

“What I can say is that MyCar offers alternative solutions to drivers who are still looking for the right e-hailing service,” said Samsul.

At the moment, MyCar accepts cash payment for a variety of rides according to passengers’ travelling needs such as MyCar Economy, MyCar Premium, MyCar MPV Compact, MyCar MPV Premium and MyCar Cab.

The minimum fare is RM5 in the Klang Valley while in other states like Johor the fare for the first 5km is around RM4.

Available on both Android and iOS apps, MyCar company details and services are available through its website www.mycar.net.my.
