JOHOR BARU: Johor MCA deputy chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong likened the attitude of the Opposition leadership to street medicine peddlers as they only made their presence when election time was near.

"Once in five years these Opposition leaders will make a show, trying to seek their voters loyalty in voting for them in the next general election by enticing them with sweet talk and empty promises," he said.

Tee who did not mention names said Johor voters should realise which community leaders in their areas had worked hard and dedicated their time and energy regardless whether election was round the corner or not.

"The Barisan Nasional coalition parties always put the need of the rakyat first rather than satisfy their own political desires," he said.

He said the people of Johor should take the spirit of Bangsa Johor and Muafakat Johor and the Johor government Dekad Baharu policy as a firm guarantee for Johor's prosperity.

"We (BN) do not act cheesy by ignoring the people's needs and try to work out their problems. Unlike some Opposition members who suddenly came like a knight in shining armour just because election is near," he said.

Earlier Tee handed land titles and Notice 5A to 64 Kulai residents from two villages namely Bukit Batu new village and Tan Ho village in Saleng.

The event held at the Saleng New Village basketball ground was organised by the Kulai Land Office as the state government had given approval to the 64 recipients for their land conversion and ownership status dating back to 50 years or more.
