KUALA LUMPUR: Police have so far recorded statements from 43 people to facilitate investigation into the death of a teenager after he was struck by a chair, thrown from an upper floor of the Seri Pantai People's Housing Project (PPR) in Pantai Dalam, last week.

However, police have since ruled out the involvement of these individuals.

City Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Rusdi Mohd Isa said out of the 43, five people were shortlisted as suspects.

"So far, investigations showed that none of them was involved. Police even conducted a voice stress analysis on the five suspects but the test came out negative," he said.

Rusdi said police are still waiting for the report on the DNA which was obtained from the chair.

"In a few days, we will get the result, which hopefully will help with the investigation."

In the incident, S. Sathiswaran, a Form Three student with SMK La Salle in Petaling Jaya and his mother, S. Kasthurivai, 45, were heading back to their home, when the incident occurred at 8.30pm.

A blue office chair, believed to have been thrown from the upper floors, came crashing down and struck Sathiswaran. He was instantly killed.

The case was initially classified under Section 304 A of the Penal Code for causing death by negligence but was later reclassified under Section 302 for murder.
