SANDAKAN: Six Filipino women were nabbed early Sunday for attempting to enter Sabah illegally.

Police said the boatman, who was ferrying them, ran into a nearby mangrove swamp off Tinosa, near here in the 2.30am raid.

State Marine police commander Assistant Commissioner Mohd Yazib Abd Aziz said three of the women did not possess any identification documents while another three were carrying Philippines' passports.

When questioned, the group claimed they were promised jobs in the state.

“They told the marine police they had boarded a boat in Basilan and later taken to the border area to wait for a speedboat to fetch them."

Yazid said police seized the RM21,000 worth of speedboat and engine.
