PUTRAJAYA: The 2018 Budget will have fair distribution of projects and allocations in all regions and states, including those controlled by the Opposition, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said.
“It is the moral duty of the Federal government. We cannot deprive the rakyat of water supply, for example, just because we don’t govern the state concerned,” the prime minister and finance minister said in a briefing to editors here today.
Similarly, highway projects also pass through states under Opposition control, which benefit the communities there even though they did not vote for Barisan Nasional, he added.
“There are times when we have to rise above politics. We want to show that we are a responsible government. Whether they want to vote for us or not, that’s up to them, but we want to fulfil our moral obligation as a government,” Najib added.
