KUALA TERENGGANU: Photo-fits of more than 600 suspected criminals on the loose in the state will soon be posted on Terengganu police Facebook as a way to track their whereabouts.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Fazlisyam Abdul Majid said they would start with sharing of the identity and pictures of 30 most-wanted criminals on Facebook.

He said the 30, including a woman, were involved in murder, attempted murder and robberies as well as causing severe hurt to their victims.

He said the suspects, aged between 30 and 50, were in the wanted list for the past 10 years for murder included a duo who had been identified as Norhayati Arinan, 28, from Kampung Pak Pa, here, and Mohd Yusob Toku, a Thai.

Speaking to reporters today, Fazlisyam said the Terengganu Criminal Investigation Department hoped to solve cases committed by 11 of the criminals by early next year.

"State police will disclose more than 600 suspects in stages in the Terengganu police Facebook to disseminate the latest information to the public to help us nab the suspects,” he said.

He said the move was in response to the directive from federal CID director Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin.

Wan Ahmad, who met the Terengganu police yesterday, had reportedly said that he wanted all the pending cases to be solved as soon as possible.

He had said a joint-task force comprising Terengganu and federal policemen had been set up to further probe three high-profile murder cases in Besut, Marang and here, including the murder of Alor Limbat assemblyman Alias Abdullah.
