MELAKA: Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) board of directors chairman Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali today launched the Human Resource Strategic Plan Book 2015-2025 (PSSM).

The book aims to build a pool of holistic human resources, who are balanced in the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects, making UTeM the first public university in the country to carry out such an agenda to improve their human resource management.

"The preparation of the PSSM is based on the principles of Rukun Negara, which is the main source of producing the National Education Philosophy.

"This is to produce a balanced and harmonious individual in the intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects," Ahmad Tajuddin said during a Chancellor Talk held at UTeM in Durian Tunggal here.

UTeM Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib said the book would be a source of reference and guidance for universities and stakeholders in determining their direction in line with the Malaysia Education Blueprint (higher education) 2015-2025 and the university strategic plan 2012-2020.

"UTeM should be prepared to address the revolutional challenges which are influenced by the change of demands technologically, economically and politically.

"This is to ensure that all desired efforts are always relevant to the needs of the time," he said.

Ahmad Tajuddin also spoke on the revolution that has been occurring since 1970 which began with agriculture, followed by industrial in the 1980's and to technology from 1990's until the present.

"For UTeM, it is more towards the technical and engineering field and we need to fit into what the future of the industry expects of us," he said.
