SANDAKAN: A 41-year-old man, believed to have been fishing using live electric wires, was electrocuted to death at Kampung Mangkalinau, Batu 3, here today.

Kamal Addu was last seen at 6pm yesterday when he was fishing at a drain using electric wires attached to a wooden rod.

District Fire and Rescue Chief Anddre Andrew said the team received a distress call at 8.04am this morning, and arrived at the location eight minutes later, to find the man lying beside a drain.

“According to members of the public, the victim’s body was initially in the water (in the drain), but was pulled out before the fire and rescue team arrived.

“The body has been handed over to the police for further action,” Anddre said, adding that the victim was believed to be an immigrant, as no MyKad identification was found on him.
