BESUT:The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) conducted a mercy flight yesterday to transfer an elderly man who suffered a heart attack and a centipede bite to Jerteh Hospital here.

The RMAF, in a statement, said Ahmad Nizal, 77, boarded the EC725AP aircraft at 3.14am.

‘The flight took off from the Felcra Keruak football field to the Gong Kedak air base, and the patient was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

‘The aircraft, with Major Nor Ismazairee Ismail as co-pilot and assisted by Captain Mohammad Fais Abdul Halim, also brought along two Air Quartermaster staff and four search-and-rescue members,’ it said.

‘Also on the flight were Army Medical Officer Major Dr Muhammad Fitri Daud and a medical staff.’

The mercy flight, or Op Murni flight, was the fourth to be carried out by the RMAF after the floods began in Besut.
