KOTA KINABALU: The organisers of the 'Kami Mahu Air' Sabah rally will be summoned, said district police chief Assistant Commissioner Kasim Muda.

He said that a team is currently finalising the investigation into the rally's organisation, which took place at Menara Kinabalu on Friday.

The rally, organised by a group of students from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), is being investigated under Section 9(1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

"So far, there have been no arrests; we will review everything first and summon the organisers.

"The investigation papers might be completed within a day or two," he said when met by the media at the launch of the Amanita Motorcycle Patrol at the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters, Dataran Deasoka, today.

Meanwhile, he noted that the nine individuals detained last Friday after participating in the rally are still under remand for a week for further investigation.

One of the detainees, an alternative school teacher, is being investigated under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for allegedly bringing in undocumented individuals.

"The other eight are individuals without documents and are being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63," he added.

Yesterday, the rally's secretariat coordinator, Mohd Norhamdin Nordin, claimed that the nine detained by police include a teacher and eight students from the Teluk Layang alternative school, all of whom are stateless individuals.
