KUALA LUMPUR: The purported leaked investigation information on the Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin murder case has not been removed from social media up to this afternoon.

The information first began circulating on Telegram and TikTok last Thursday after Zayn Rayyan's parents were charged with neglect of the 6-year-old boy.

Checks on several social media platforms, including TikTok and Telegram, found that the content had not been taken down.

One particular Telegram channel shared an enhanced version of the leaked information which had been converted into a portable document format.

"We'll give you a better version to read," said the post.

Yesterday, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) requested several social media platforms to remove the content.

The MCMC said the dissemination of the information could lead to the disruption of the trial and was an irresponsible act.

The MCMC also reminded the public not to share unauthenticated or false information as it is an offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Yesterday, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said police received two reports, one from the victim's family and the other from the case's investigating officer, on the leak.

He said the investigation was being carried out under Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act, Section 203A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Previously, federal Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said police would work with MCMC to investigate the purported leak of information.
