KUALA LUMPUR: Police have opened an investigation into a fight between three men in front of a restaurant at Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang which has since gone viral on social media.

South Klang district police chief ACP Cha Hoong Fong said they received a police report from a 19-year-old man, claiming that he sustained injuries in the fight which occurred at around 8.15pm on Monday.

Cha said the investigation revealed that the victim, who was driving a black Toyota Vios, arrived in front of a restaurant on Jalan Batu Nilam 1E, entering the parking area recklessly and almost hitting a motorcycle ridden by a 24-year-old local male.

"A harsh exchange between the suspect and the victim led to a verbal altercation and shortly after, the suspect's 27-year-old brother arrived at the scene.

"While the suspect was holding the victim's shirt and pushing him onto the bonnet of a car, the suspect's brother punched the victim once in the face.

"The victim then fled, and members of the public at the scene helped to calm the situation," he said in a statement.

As a result of the incident, Cha said, the victim sustained a minor cut to his right eyebrow and scratches on his right elbow.

He added that the district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had opened an investigation paper under Section 160 of the Penal Code for the offence of affray, which carries a penalty of up to six months imprisonment or a fine of up to RM 1,000, or both.

"The investigating officer has recorded statements from all individuals involved in this incident, and the investigation paper will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor soon.

"The police have also detected a video related to this incident circulating on social media and advise against further sharing of the video to avoid causing public concern."

He also urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward to the nearest police station or contact the South Klang district police headquarters at 03-33762222 to assist with the investigation.
