BATU PAHAT: " I did it (hit and pulled her hair) because she did not pay back the RM300 she owed me."

That was what snooker centre worker Nur Arina Aqilah Kelana, 20, told the magistrate's court after she pleaded guilty to a charge of hurting a woman on Saturday.

The charge was read in front of magistrate Suhaila Safi'uddin, who asked Nur Arina why she committed the act.

Nur Arina was charged for deliberately causing hurt to a 22-year-old woman at a snooker centre here at 5.30pm on May 4.

The charge is under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt which carries jail term of a year or fine up to RM2,000 or both, upon conviction.

The facts of case said the accused had gone to the snooker centre and pulled the victim and slapped her cheek.

The accused also pushed the victim until she fell and snatched the victim's handphone.

The victim, who sustained injury later lodged a report at the Batu Pahat district police headquarters.

Deputy public prosecutor Farah Wahidah Mohd Sharip prosecuted, while Nur Arina was represented by lawyer Tan Song Yan from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK).

With the guilty plea from the accused, the court fined her to RM1,000 in lieu of a month in jail if she fails to pay the fine.
