JOHOR BARU: Johor police have received 36 reports to date against a Facebook post, purportedly insulting His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia.

Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar said various parties lodged the reports and their statements were recorded.

He added the statement and reports would be forwarded to Bukit Aman to facilitate investigations under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 for disseminating seditious content and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for using the internet to transmit offensive content.

Earlier, Pasir Gudang Umno Youth division lodged a police report against Facebook account holder "Hezry Yasin".
