JOHOR BARU: Police have recorded the statements of six individuals to help investigations in the case of a toddler who was allegedly slashed to death in a residential area in Pasir Gudang, here on Saturday.

Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar said the individuals included the boy's father, family members and neighbours, who have cooperated well so far.

He said the 32-year-old woman, the toddler's mother, will now be placed under observation at the hospital throughout the remand period for treatment.

"The investigation is still ongoing, we have also called several witnesses.

"The main suspect in this case, the mother of the baby, has been remanded until this Saturday.

"Our initial investigation found that the suspect has health issues, but we are still waiting for a report from the hospital," he said.

Yesterday, Seri Alam district police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak was reported to have said that the child's mother had been placed at the Tampoin Permai Hospital for a health check-up.
