KUALA LUMPUR: The actions of three teenage girls performing 'Superman' stunts on the North-South Expressway led to trouble when they were arrested by the police yesterday.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said that his team identified the video clip uploaded on the X application at 5.34pm on March 10.

"The video clip shows a group of motorcyclists performing a stunt of lying flat on their motorcycles while extending both legs backward (Superman stunt) on the said highway."

Acting on the information, the Investigation/Operations Unit together with the Melaka Tengah Traffic Investigation Division apprehended three teenage girls in the vicinity of Bandar Melaka yesterday.

"The girls, aged 16 to 18, were detained along with the Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle they were riding and were detained at the traffic police station of the Rembau District Police Headquarters under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987," he said in a statement today.

Mohd Azman said that investigation found that all suspects apprehended were members of the 'Awek Melaka' motorcycle club, with all club members residing in Melaka.

"Before the incident, it is understood that the suspects were on their way home in a convoy from a restaurant in Serdang, Selangor.

"The suspects admitted to using the highway as a location to perform the dangerous stunt because they were influenced by each other," he said.

He added that his team also issued seven summonses to the suspects for various offenses."

We will continuously conduct operations to prevent street hooliganism to eradicate such activities that endanger public safety.

"At the same time, we are committed to conducting advocacy programs to cultivate a generation of motorcyclists who always adhere to traffic rules and regulations," he said.
