KOTA BARU: A company owner was charged at Kota Baru Sessions Court today on nine counts of making false claims to the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) amounting to RM28,000 for non-existent employees in 2020.

Muhammad Hilmi Zolkifli, however, pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to all the charges before Judge Dazuki Ali.

The 35-year-old was accused of committing the offences as the owner of Momentum Niaga Training Consultancy in Ketereh.

He was alleged to have produced fake details to Melaka Perkeso Employment Service officer Nurshahara Nordin to enable nine individuals who were not his employees, each to receive RM1,600, RM3,200 and RM4,000 incentives under the Penjana Kerjaya 1.0 initiative.

Helmi was alleged to have committed the offences between July 21 to Oct 6, 2020.

The accused was charged under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 which is punishable under Section 24(2) of the same Act, and also Section 471 and 465 of the Penal Code as an alternative charge.

Deputy public prosecutors Mariah Omar and Tengku Nurul Haziqah Tuan Yacob prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer Yvonne Gan.

Judge Dazuki granted Helmi bail at RM12,000 with one surety and ordered him to surrender his passport to the court and to report to MACC on a monthly basis until the completion of the trial.

He then set March 31 for the case to be re-mentioned.
