PADANG TERAP: The army seized 1.7 tonnes of ketum worth over RM50,000 discovered in an abandoned pick-up truck at the Malaysia-Thailand border here today.

The 2nd Division Army Headquarters, Tun Razak Camp in a statement said, a border patrol team spotted an Isuzu D-Max V-Cross Space Cab abandoned in the woods near the border about 7.15am.

"Upon inspection the team found 116 packets containing ketum leaves with a total weight of 1,740kg valued at about RM52,200 in the vehicle.

"The seized ketum and the vehicle with an estimated value of RM150,200 were subsequently handed over to the Kuala Nerang police station for further action," it said.
