BATU PAHAT:  Three suspects have been remanded following the discovery of human remains in an abandoned house in Kampung Batu 7, Tongkang Pechah yesterday afternoon.

Batu Pahat district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah, said a remand order was issued against the three men until Jan 27.

He said the remand order against the suspects aged between 24 and 39 was to enable the police to conduct an investigation in accordance with Section 302 of the Penal Code.

It is understood that the three male suspects arrested, include the boyfriend of missing single mother Mila Sharmila Samsusah, 32, known as Bella, as well as the boyfriend's uncle.

Meanwhile, Ismail said, the post-mortem examination on the remains was carried out at the Forensic Department of Hospital Sultan Ismail (HSI), Johor Baru, today.

He said, pathology samples from the HSI Forensic Department had also been taken and sent to the Chemistry Department for comparison with deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) tests to identify the identity of the deceased.

Yesterday, Johor police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said a DNA test on samples taken from the location where the skeleton was found would be done as soon as possible.

He also said that DNA samples were taken from Bella's mother and sister for comparison.

However, he could not confirm whether the remains found belonged to Bella or another individual.
