KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has directed the closure of three food premises and issued 35 compounds for various offences after inspecting 30 premises through 'Operasi Sepadu Bersih' (Clean Sweep Operation), yesterday.

In a statement, DBKL said the operation was carried out around Jalan Hujan Rahmat, Jalan Radin Bagus, and Jalan Radin Tengah in the Seputeh Parliament area; Jalan Lang Kuning and two commercial premises in the Segambut Parliament area; as well as Jalan Development and Jalan Metro Perdana in the Kepong Parliament area.

"A stall was ordered to close under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983, and two more under the 2016 UUK 28(1) Food Establishment Licensing By-laws (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur).

"Additionally, a total of 35 compounds were issued for various offences under the 2016 WPKL Food Licensing By-laws and the 1979 Food Handlers By-laws.

"The offences include employees without typhoid vaccinations, premises that are dirty and foul-smelling with irregular waste disposal, and the presence of rat droppings in the kitchen area," he said while informing that the operation involved 23 members, which included health officers from DBKL.

DBKL also advised customers to exercise their rights if premises owners refuse to make changes.

"Make sure your chosen premises are clean, be more aware of health, cleanliness, and food safety matters," he said.
