KUALA LUMPUR: The controversial founder of Rumah Bonda, Siti Bainun Ahd Razali has recently attracted attention once again this time because of her physical appearance when she appeared for her appeal hearing at the High Court here today.
It is understood that Siti Bainun who used to weigh 150 kilogrammes (kg) has managed to lose weight where she has slimmed down to 90kg.
The 31-year-old who is serving a 12-year prison sentence at Kajang prison after being found guilty of neglecting and abusing 13-year-old Bella who has Down Syndrome, managed to shed about 60kg in just six months.
Siti Bainun turned up in court for her hearing wearing a pink robe as she was escorted by prisons department personnel.
When asked by members of the media if she was healthy or not, she just nodded and smiled. On May 3, the Sessions Court here ordered Siti Bainun to undergo a 12-year prison sentence after she was found guilty on two charges of neglecting and abusing Bella, 13, at a condominium unit in Wangsa Maju between February to June 2021.
The court also ordered Siti Bainun to sign a good behaviour bond for five years with a guarantor and a surety of RM5,000.
She was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service that has to be completed within six months after she completes her prison sentence.
On May 23, the High Court rejected her application to suspend her prison sentence because there were no special circumstances justifying the Rumah Bonda founder's release pending an appeal of the conviction and sentence to be heard.
This means that the 31-year-old will remain in prison pending an appeal against her conviction and sentence to be decided by the High Court.
