MELAKA: A 12-month-old baby boy sustained bleeding at the head after losing consciousness while under the care of a daycare centre in Pertam Jaya, Semabok, yesterday.

Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said the baby's father lodged a report about what happened at 12.30pm.

He said at about 9.30am on the same day, the father, 31, received a voice message from the daycare centre's owner, who told him that his son's eyes had rolled upwards while bathing.

"The owner also enquired whether the child ever experienced seizures before. Following that , the baby's father immediately contacted the woman (owner) and rushed to the daycare centre to get his child.

"The baby was then rushed to the Melaka Hospital and is currently being hospitalised and is receiving treatment due to bleeding in the head," he said as reported by Harian Metro.

Christopher added that four days before the incident, the baby had allegedly fallen at the daycare centre, resulting in swelling on the forehead and bruises on the cheek.

"The baby's mother then enquired about her child's injury on Friday night and the owner claimed that the injury was due to the child falling from a 'bouncer' chair.

"Aside from the fall, the child had also collided with the bouncer chair, which caused bruising on the right cheek and left side of the forehead.

"Further investigations regarding the incident are currently underway," he said.
