It was reported that a 22-year-old man sustained injuries when the vehicle he was in was struck by a car driving against the traffic flow at the Penang bridge exit, heading towards the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu expressway.

The Perodua Bezza driven by the victim was hit head-on by the 41-year-old female driver of the BMW 5-series, who was traveling against the traffic from the city center.

Khaw also said the female driver had tested negative for alcohol consumption on the day of the incident, as per the results from the Chemistry Department.

He added that both drivers' statements had been recorded after they were discharged from the hospital.

Khaw made these statements during a promotional ceremony held at the Penang Police Contingent Headquarters, where seven officers were promoted from the rank of Assistant Superintendent (ASP) to Deputy Superintendent (DSP), and 33 Inspectors were promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent (ASP) from various departments within the contingent.
