Bentong: A stall assistant at Perindustrian Benus was faced with tense moments when an armed man carrying what appeared to be a pistol robbed the durian stall she was manning.

Bentong district police chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar stated that the incident occurred at 4.44pm while the 38-year-old woman was alone at the stall.

"The foreign woman was approached by a man driving a Proton Wira vehicle. The suspect then brandished a weapon resembling a pistol towards the victim.

"The suspect demanded the woman to hand over cash from the counter before fleeing," he said in a statement today.

Zaiham said the investigation revealed that the woman was working with a local man as a sales assistant at the durian stall.

"At the time of the incident, the victim was alone and fortunately did not suffer any injuries.

"The police are currently actively searching for the suspect. Members of the public with any information regarding the incident can contact the nearest police station to assist in the investigation," he said.

He added that the case is being investigated under Sections 392/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
