KENINGAU: A 22-year-old man was arrested for impersonating a policeman.

The suspect was arrested by a team of officers from the Keningau Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department during Op Samseng Jalanan at 2pm here yesterday.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Nor Rafidah Kasim said the suspect was wearing a green vest with the word "polis" printed on it when he was arrested.

"The suspect failed to provide his police identification and MyKad when police asked for them for inspection and verification.

"The suspect was taken to the Keningau district police headquarters for further action," she said when contacted today.

She said police seized several items and the motorcycle ridden by the suspect.

She said the suspect is being investigated for impersonating a public servant.
