MELAKA: A woman was found dead with stab wounds to the stomach in an incident at a house in Taman Kota Laksamana here yesterday.

Earlier, the 56-year-old woman was said to have attempted to stab her 26-year-old son who is also a Person with Disabilities (PwD) in an incident at around 3.30pm.

A witness who is the suspect's younger sibling, found out about the incident after being contacted by the mother who asked the witness to go to the sister's house.

"Mom said that my sister was unconscious because she hurt herself after trying to stab her son in the neck.

"Upon arriving, I saw my nephew covered in blood with injury marks on his neck. He told me that his mother was on the upper floor of the house and had a knife in her hand.

"When I went to the living room, I saw my sister sprawled on the floor in a pool of blood, apart from also seeing blood stains on the wall," said the witness when met at the location of the scene late last night.

The witness said that the nephew claimed his mother asked him to swallow a pill before the incident and to go to sleep.

However, the suspect is claimed to have suddenly acted aggressively and pointed a knife to the son's neck, though the victim managed to escape and save himself by locking himself in the room.

"My nephew who was injured was taken to hospital for medical treatment," said the witness.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Melaka Tengah District Police chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit confirmed the incident took place and that the case has been classified as sudden death.

"Further investigations are being carried out," he said.
