KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded statements from the operators of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras along the Sungai Besi-Ulu Klang Expressway (SUKE) and the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway to assist in the investigation into a fatal accident on SUKE last Wednesday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the two vehicles involved in the accident had been sent to Puspakom Sdn Bhd and the Chemistry Department for inspection.

"The suspect in this case has also been interviewed. He is injured and is in stable condition.

"The investigation papers will be referred to the Selangor deputy public prosecutor after the investigation into the accident is completed," he said in a statement today.

In the June 14 incident, a Ducati Panigale motorcycle rider died from serious injuries after he crashed into the SUKE flyover barrier and was thrown from the elevated highway. The victim was allegedly attempting to avoid another motorcyclist travelling against the flow of traffic.

The motorcyclist who travelled against the flow of traffic lodged a report at the Kajang Traffic Police Station the following day.

The motorcyclist, a 41-year-old food operator from Kajang, Selangor, has given his statement to the police.

The police have recorded statements from six people, including the suspect.
