JASIN: After six days on the run, an inmate who escaped from the Jasin Correctional Centre was finally nabbed last night.

The man was detained by police from the Lipat Kajang station in Alor Gajah.

The male inmate was detained by Police personnel from the Lipat Kajang station in Alor Gajah.

Acting Jasin District Police Chief Assistant Superintendent Mohd Fadzli Othman said the 44-year-old was arrested at around 9 pm by a police team.

"The prisoner involved will be taken to the Jasin Magistrate's Court, today, for the remand application process.

"The investigation (on the inmate's escape) is still ongoing to complete the investigation papers," he said.

He said the prisoner was undergoing the Resident Reintegration Program at the centre due to his involvement in a robbery case.

The inmate escaped from the correctional here, on Jan 24.

He said the man was noticed missing by a correctional centre officer at 2.20 pm.
