KUANTAN: Police have submitted the investigation papers on the assault of a religious school student and his teacher at a tahfiz in Kuala Lipis last week to the deputy public prosecutor's office.

Lipis police chief Superintendent Azli Mohd Nor said the papers were handed to the DPP's office today for further instructions.

"We have completed investigations on the five suspects under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting, Section 448 for trespassing and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for consumption of drugs.

"Their remand has been extended till Thursday," he said today.

In the incident which went viral on social media on Aug 11, the tahfiz centre teacher, who is also the premises caretaker, received four stitches above his eyes after he was assaulted by several men following a dispute over food prices at the premises.

A 11-year-old tahfiz student also suffered injuries during the 5.10pm incident.

Police arrested two suspects in Damak, Jerantut the following day while a third suspect was nabbed at Bandar Jengka, Maran on Aug 13. Two others were arrested in Terengganu on the same day (Aug 13). All five men in their 30s tested positive for drugs.
