KUALA LIPIS: Three more suspects who assaulted an ustaz and a student of the Darul Fikri Al Mahmudiah tahfiz centre in Jalan Cheneras over meal prices were nabbed by the police today.

Lipis police chief Superintendent Azli Mohd Nor said the Pahang and Terengganu state contingent Criminal Investigation Department officers conducted a series of raids to nab the trio between 1am and 8am today.

He said at 1am, one suspect who has a past criminal record was apprehended at a home in Kuala Nerus in Terengganu.

An hour later, one more was arrested along Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Terengganu.

At 8am, investigators from the Lipis station arrested another suspect, who has a record of criminal and drug offences, at a Felda Lepar Utara home in Bandar Jengka.

"Their urine test results returned positive for heroin. We will seek a remand order at the Raub magistrate court today and they will be detained at the Kuala Lipis police station lock-up for further investigations.

"The total arrests of suspects are five and this case is solved," he said today.

He said two suspects were earlier arrested in Damak, Jerantut, and have been remanded for four days until Aug 15.

Checks showed they also have past criminal records and tested positive for methamphetamine.

In the incident, the ustaz and students were attacked by the five suspects who were unhappy with the prices of meals at the tahfiz centre.

"Three suspects had attacked the ustaz named Muhammad Zulhafiz Mohd Rasid who is the tahfiz centre caretaker and a student named Umar Naufal Azman, who lodged a report at 6.43pm yesterday at the Kuala Lipis station.

"Zulhafiz had injuries on his hand and bruises on his body. He also received four stitches near his right eye. Umar suffered body pain," he said.

Azli said the case was being investigated under Section 147 and Section 448 of the Penal Code for rioting and trespassing; as well as the Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug use.
