KLANG: A Form Four student was believed to have died from suffocation following an argument with her 24-year-old boyfriend at the latter's house in Kampung Idaman, Pandamaran here, yesterday morning.

South Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said police was alerted to the discovery of an unconscious teenage girl in a housing compound around 3.40am.

"The suspect was believed to have brought the victim to his room at 2am. However, an argument broke out between them, which allegedly caused her death.

"Preliminary investigations showed that the suspect had carried the victim out of his room to the porch. He then sought help from his family members.

"The suspect's family members called the police and told them what had happened. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical team," he said at the South Klang district police headquarters today.

Cha said scratches and bruises were found on the victim's face and neck.

"A post-mortem result showed that she died of asphyxiation, believed to have been caused when she was smothered with a pillow. The pillow has been seized as evidence."

He said the 16-year-old victim was a student at a school in the Klang Valley, while the suspect was jobless.

"They had known each other for a year now and their families knew of their relationship as the suspect had brought her home several times."

He added that the suspect had been remanded until July 3 to assist in police investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

He urged those with information about the case to contact South Klang IPD at 03-33762222 or go to the nearest police station.
