KOTA BARU: Police yesterday detained a plumber, in his 30s, suspected to have stolen pipes and water meters in the town area recently.

The suspect was nabbed by the police at Jalan Sultanah Zainab here.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said the man was arrested after a video on the missing items went viral yesterday.

"Following this, police have raided a house in Jalan Sultanah Zainab about 4.30pm and later detained the suspect.

"Police also seized the pipes and water metres as well as equipment believed to be used in the illegal activity," he added.

He said initial investigation showed that the suspect had been involved in the said crime since last year.

Shafien said the man, tested positive for drugs, had three prior convictions.

"The suspect has been remanded for four days beginning today to assist police investigation into the case," he added.
