KOTA BARU: A doctor and three others detained by police for alleged involvement in the fake Covid-19 vaccination certificates case, were released on bail yesterday.

State police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said the four were released on police bail pending investigations into the case.

It was earlier reported that a private clinic doctor was detained for allegedly selling fake Covid-19 vaccination certificates to several people.

The doctor, in his sixties, was detained during a police-Health Department joint operation on Monday.

On Sunday, authorities nabbed three people including a woman who had obtained fake vaccination certificates from the doctor.

The arrests were made following a report on the issuance of fake vaccination certificates lodged at the Kota Baru police headquarters on Monday.

Police also seized several vaccination certificates and other related documents from the premises.

It was reported that cases on the selling of fake Covid-19 vaccination certificates were so far recorded by police in four states.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Razarudin Husain said the states were Selangor, Terengganu, Johor and Kelantan.

However, he said the activities were still under control as police would continue monitoring the situation.
