KOTA KINABALU: A civil servant was charged at the Sessions Court here with physical sexual assault on a child.
Sharif Hardi Roman Sh. Miasin, 34, pleaded not guilty before judge Azreena Aziz in a virtual hearing, today to performing oral sex on a 15-year-old male.
He was accused of committing the offence on Jan 4, at 4.40pm, inside a VVIP toilet at the National Registration Office, here.
The offence falls under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 which carries imprisonment of up to 20 years, and whipping, upon conviction.
The court fixed Feb 17 for case management and the accused who was unrepresented, was granted bail of RM10,000 with two local sureties.
The court also made additional orders for the accused not to tamper with the prosecution witnesses, to report to the nearest police station twice a month, and for his passport, if any, to be impounded by the court.
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Hajar Mazlan prosecuted the case.
