KUALA LUMPUR: A group of Mat Rempit showing off their 'Superman' and 'zig-zag' stunts while engaging in an illegal race ended up in the police station after being arrested early this morning.

The motorcyclists were found to have performed dangerous stunts while riding their 'kapcai' on several major highways by a team of undercover officers and policemen.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) deputy director Datuk Mohd Nadzri Hussain said 15 suspects, aged between 18 and 26, were detained by the Bukit Aman JSPT Intelligence and Operations Unit in an operation between 11pm last night to 9.30am this morning.

According to him, the suspects were detected riding their motorcycles in dangerous and reckless manner on the Kajang - Seremban Highway (LEKAS) and the Kuala Lumpur - Seremban Highway.

"The suspects also raced with each other, dangering other highway users.

"They were trailed by the police before being nabbed at several locations around Senawang, Seri Kembangan and near the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza," he said in a statement today.

He said all the suspects were taken to the Seremban, Nilai and Serdang police headquarters for further action.

He said in the same operation, police also issued summonses for various traffic offences as well as illegal modifications made to their motorcycles.

"All suspects detained will be investigated per Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"Police will always conduct continuous monitoring and operations to prevent this activity as well as ensure the safety of roads for other highway users," he said.
