SHAH ALAM: Police have arrested a man who had grabbed a woman's handbag after her car crashed into his at KM14.6 of the Federal Highway (Kuala Lumpur bound) from Klang yesterday.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Baharudin Mat Taib said the man was arrested after he lodged a police report related to the fender-bender at Shah Alam police headquarters, at 6.30pm.

"Based on the (video of the) accident that spread on social media, the crash happened at about 1.33pm yesterday involving three vehicles.

"The woman, who was driving a BMW car, slammed into the rear and right side of the man's Proton Gen 2 car.

"The collision caused the 56-year-old man's car to rear-end another vehicle, a Honda HRV in front, driven by another woman.

"However, no injuries were reported in the incident and the case is being investigated under Rule 10 LN 166/59," he said in a statement.

Baharudin said police also opened an investigation paper into the man's actions under Section 379/323 of the Penal Code for theft and voluntarily causing hurt.

He also urged witnesses of the accident to assist police in the investigation by contacting the Assistant Investigating Officer of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) IPD Shah Alam, Sergeant Hafizi Hashim at 013-9557042.

In the one-minute 30 second video, the man had demanded the identity card of the woman, the BMW driver to lodge a police report.

He then grabbed the woman's handbag and took it to his car by ordering her to follow him to lodge a police report.

The incident was believed to have occurred near the Shell and Petron petrol stations off the Federal Highway.
