BUTTERWORTH: A man was charged at the Sessions Court here today for four counts of offences, including carnal intercourse against the order of nature, rape and robbery.

Zul Mazuan Zul Hilman @ Suresh Kumar, 25, pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to all the charges which were read to him before Judge Noor Aini Yusof.

On the first count, Zul Mazuan is accused to have forced oral sex on a Myanmar woman at a house at Tingkat Kikik 2, Taman Inderawasih in Prai near here at 4am last Tuesday (Oct 12).

He was charged under Section 377B of the Penal Code for the offence which carries a five to 20 years' jail and whipping upon conviction.

On the second court, he is alleged to have robbed the Myanmar woman of RM200 at the same place, time and date.

For that, he was charged under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment and shall be liable to a fine and whipping, upon conviction.

On the third court, Zul Mazuan is alleged to have raped the Myanmar woman at knife point at the same place, time and date.

He was charged under Section 376(2)(b) of the Penal Code which makes him liable to a jail term between 10 and 30 years and whipping upon conviction.

On the last count he is alleged to have robbed a local woman of RM200 at Medan Kikik 1, Taman Inderawasih in Prai near here about 5.15am on Oct 9, this year.

He was charged under Section 392 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of 14 years and fine or whipping if found guilty.

Deputy Public Prosecutors Aisyah Al Humayrah Kamarulzaman and Nur Fazliyana Ahmad did not offer any bail.

Aisyah prosecuted in the first three charges involving the Myanmar national while Nur Fazliyana for the fourth charge.

Zul Mazuan, through his legal counsel, identified only as Yoges, urged the court to grant bail, saying that the accuser's father would stand in as the bailor.

"When he (my client) was caught, he was at home. And today, his father is here with him in court.

"There is no reason for him now to appear in court," he told the court.

He said the court could also set additional condition, that the accused do not disturb the victims.

Noor Aini then set bail at RM50,000 in total with one surety for all four charges.

For the first count, Zul Mazuan was imposed with RM15,000 bail with one surety, RM10,000 with one surety (second count), RM15,000 with one surety (third count) and RM10,000 with one surety (fourth count).

"The accused is also refrained from disturbing the victims and witnesses until the disposal of his case," Noor Aini added.

She then set Nov 29 for mention.

It was reported that police detained two men to assist investigations into a rape-cum-armed robbery incident in Prai near here last Tuesday.

Seberang Prai Tengah police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafee Abd Samad said the victim, a foreigner, lodged a report that she was raped while sleeping inside the workers' hostel at a terrace house in the 4am incident.

In her report, the victim claimed a man placed a sharp object on her neck that woke her from sleep, before raping her.

The man then took RM200 from the victim and ran away.

Following the incident, police have arrested two local men, aged 24 and 25, to assist in investigation into the case.

Both suspects have previous records for criminal and drug-related activities.
