KOTA KINABALU: Two China nationals claimed trial in the Magistrate's Court here to a joint charge of verbally threatening their two countrymen.

Gao Peng, 38 who is a businessman and He Leong, 34, who is a company director were charged with criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code.

The duo were accused of verbally threatening both the victims aged 43 and 33, to cause death or injury, and to destroy the victims' premises.

The alleged offence took place at 9pm on May 28, in front of the Happiness Sabah restaurant, Waterfront in the city.

If convicted, Gao and He can be jailed for up to seven years or a fine or both.

Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles fixed July 29 for case management and both accused were released on RM2,500 bail with two local sureties each.

The magistrate also ordered the duo's passports, which are still valid, to be kept by the court until disposal of the case.

Counsel Luqman Syazwan Mohd Zabidi and Shahlan Jufri represented Gao and He respectively.

In an unrelated case, two men were charged with stealing three gallons of diesel belonging to a company.

Rodimar Kimal, 26, and Azliesham Sudirman, 23, however, denied committing the offence with an accomplice who is still at large on June 14, at 2.30pm at a squatter area near Kg. Cenderakasih in Likas.

The offence is punishable with imprisonment for a maximum seven years, a fine or both, upon conviction under Section 379 of the Penal Code.

The court fixed July 22 for case management. Rodimar who is a foreigner will be detained pending disposal of the case while local Azliesham was granted bail of RM1,500 with two local sureties.

Inspector Lim Swee Beng prosecuted both cases.
