NILAI: Three men have been detained following a video which has gone viral on social media in which a teenager was seen damaging food items and drinks at a convenience store in a shopping mall, here.

Nilai district police chief Supt Mohd Marzukee Besar said the suspects aged 18 and 20 were detained at about 3.45pm at the Nilai district police headquarters, here.

The arrest follows a police report lodged by the store's manager after sustaining losses amounting to RM30.

"Police will apply for remand at the Seremban Magistrate Court tomorrow," he said when contacted.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief.

Marzukee earlier informed police were investigating the matter and looking for the teenager after the clip began making its rounds on social media.

In the one minute and 10 seconds video, a male individual, believed to be a teenager, was seen deliberately damaging food items and a bottled drink.

The scene was recorded by what is believed to be his friend, another male individual, who could be heard repeatedly calling his friend's action as "bodoh" (stupid) accompanied by sounds of laughter.

The store manager lodged a report last night after seeing the viral video and subsequently checking closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of the store.

This was when the manager realised the incident took place at the store where he works.

Earlier, a teenager who goes by the handle @luqbubbles on Instagram claimed he was the person in the viral video and issued an apology.

He also claimed he would pay for the damages he caused.
