PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal has ordered RM2.7 million paid as compensation to two ex-aides of former Selangor menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to be returned to Selangor’s Menteri Besar, Incorporated (MBI).

The three-man panel led by Datuk Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat in an unanimous said the use of MBI funds for use as compensation was not valid.

Therefore, they ordered former MBI chief executive officer Faekah Hussin and its ex-chief operating officer Rohany Talib to return the money, totaling RM2,713,590.

The court also set aside the RM100,000 in costs which the High Court had ruled MBI should pay in an decision.

MBI had also named six other former officers but the court did not rule on these.

Besides Tengku Maimun, the others on the panel were Datuk Harminder Singh Dhaliwal and Datuk Hasnah Mohammed Hashim.

MBI was represented by Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram and Edwin Lim while Faekah and Rohany were represented by Edmund Bon.

The Shah Alam High Court had ruled on March 31 that the compensation paid out to the eight former MBI officers was valid.

On May 11, 2015, MBI had filed a suit reclaiming the money paid to them via a voluntary separation scheme in 2014.

They had named Faekah, Rohany, Arfa’eza Abdul Aziz, Mustapha Mohd Talib, Rahimah Kamarudin, Dr Sulaiman Masri, Abdul Halim Mohamed Yusof and Tuan Nazuri Tuan Ismail as respondents.
