KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a woman who claims to be the wife of a cosmetics seller who was found dead after being attacked by four men at the Sri Muda night market in Shah Alam.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat said police have obtained a remand order for the 26-year old woman until Thursday to facilitate investigations into the case which has been classfied as murder.

Shafien said the woman had no identification documents with her but she claimed that she was born in Malaysia to Indonesian parents.

Last night, the victim Nor Syazrin Rasdi, 29, was operating his stall, accompanied by the woman and two Indonesian workers, aged 28 and 31, when four men attacked him.

Shafien said police were alerted to the incident at 9.05pm yesterday where they found the body with wounds on his neck and body at the scene located along Jalan Cermat 25/36, Section 25, Shah Alam.

The information received by the police stated that Syazrin had his throat slit by the attackers.

One of the workers who tried to help Syazrin sustained head injuries and was sent to the hospital.

Shafien said Syazrin, from Kupang, Kedah, had just started his business at the night market.

Police have launched a manhunt to track down the suspects and find the weapon used in the attack.

Investigations are continuing to determine the motive behind the attack.
