JOHOR BARU: The Sessions Court has set Oct 3 to 5, and Dec 4 and 5 for the trial of former Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Abd Latif Bandi, his son and a real estate consultant.

Judge Mohd Fauzi Mohd Nasir told the court that the trial for Latif and the three others in the money laundering case will run simultaneously with their separate corruption case.

On June 14, Latif, 51, his son Ahmad Fauzan Hatim, 25, and real estate consultant Amir Shariffuddin Abd Raub, 44, claimed trial to 21 charges of money laundering involving amounts totalling RM35.7 million.

Prior to that on April 19, Latif and Amir Shariffuddin claimed trial in court to 33 charges of abetment with Amir Shariffuddin in receiving a total of RM30.3 million in bribes for a period between 2013 and last year.

In today's proceedings, Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor Mohd Josiendra Abu Senin requested for a date for the last case management before the trial in order to finalise the list of witnesses and related documents.

The court set Aug 21 for re-mention. MACC deputy public prosecutor Khazrin Haffiz Khalil assisted in today's proceedings.

Latif and his son were represented by a counsel team led by Datuk Hasnal Rezua Merican. Amir Shariffuddin was represented by counsel Azrul Zulkifli Stork and Hazza Khalid.
