SUBANG JAYA: The residents of US2 Subang Jaya, rocked by the death of a family of four in a tragic fire yesterday, have created a video to pay tribute to Lim Ah Kok, the head of the family.

Ah Kok, fondly known as Rican to his friends, was among the mainstays of the USJ2 Rukun Tetangga (RT) and Residents Association, known for his jovial nature and his willingness to lend a hand to the local community there.

The video, which runs for almost three-minutes, captures various snap shots of Ah Kok with members of the RT and residents association during their time together.

Ah Kok, 58, was killed together with his wife, Goh Bee Khim, 52, and their children Lim Yong Liang, 20 and Lim Yong Wei, 17, in a fire that engulfed their double-storey terrace house here in USJ2, yesterday.

USJ RT chairman, Datuk Joe Ng Se Ching said the association was deeply affected by the loss of Ah Kok, who was an active member of the RT. They have raised funds to help the sole surviving member of the family, Ah Kok’s eldest daughter, Lim Yi Jun.

“For now we have raised RM7,000 and we believe we can raise more tomorrow.

“On Thursday, USJ2 Residents Association vice-chairman Ricky Yeo and I will be heading to Butterworth, Penang to pay our last respects and also pass the contributions to Yi Jun,” said Ng.

“I hope that Yi Jun stays strong to overcome this difficult ordeal.”
