BUTTERWORTH: Heavy rain triggered flash floods in several areas on the mainland here today.

The afternoon downpour occurred in Prai and Bukit Mertajam about 3.30pm.

Vehicles were seen powering their way through flash floods at sections along main roads and one expressway.

Among the areas affected were Chai Leng Park, Bukit Minyak and parts of Butterworth-Kulim Expressway.

Traffic flow was slowed down significantly due to flooded roads. The water level receded about an hour later.
