GEORGE TOWN: Tanjong Umno vowed to stand behind Datuk Seri Najib Razak as party president and Prime Minister today.
Tanjung Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ibni Hajar said it condemned the Mahathir-Lim Kit Siang declaration to bring down a democratically elected PM.
He said Dr Mahathir had gone against the norms of democracy, ignoring other implication to the people and the country.
"We urge the government to act seriously to enforce all laws possible on parties who try to topple our government.
"The Tanjong division also urges the police to act swiftly on illegal rallies that might pepper the minds of the people with poisonous opposition sentiment," Ahmad said.
Meanwhile, Ahmad also called the central Umno leadership to terminate membership of those who support backhanded efforts to topple Najib and his administration.
"We would like the membership of those who are still holding party posts such as Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir to have their memberships relinquished," he said.
