KUANTAN: Flight operations at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport here resumed as usual despite the collapsed ceiling incident outside its departure hall building yesterday.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) when contacted, refuted claims that several flights were delayed due to the incident.

“The flights were delayed due to heavy rain in the district and not because of the collapsed ceiling.

“As for repair works (of the collapsed ceiling), MAHB will refer it to the contractor as it still under warranty.”

No injuries were reported in the 1pm incident.

Kuantan was hit by rain since Sunday afternoon, causing 59 residents in Sungai Soi, to be evacuated to SK Kempadang since 3pm yesterday.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued an orange level warning after continuous heavy rainfall in Kuantan until today.
