This festive season onwards, Malaysians can potentially save, or change, the lives of thousands of children in need with just a click of the mouse or a swipe of the finger, thanks to a new partnership between UNICEF Malaysia and Internet services company Rakuten.

A wide selection of Inspired Gifts will be available on Rakuten Malaysia where shoppers can browse the catalogue and choose a life-saving gift to help a child in need. For those who are purchasing an Inspired Gift on behalf of someone, they can send a personalised UNICEF Paper Doll gift card to a friend or loved one in lieu of the Inspired Gift in their honour. Customers will then receive these cards via post.

These gifts are available for purchase at www.rakuten.com.my.

For every Inspired Gift purchased, Rakuten will give a 5 per cent rebate in the form of Rakuten Super Points back to customers.

“Rakuten shares UNICEF’s commitment in improving the lives and well-being of children around the world. This innovative Inspired Gifts programme is the perfect way for the Malaysian public to give back to those in need, especially during the festive gifting season,” said Masaya Ueno, Director, Rakuten Asia.

Bow Bow Choon, chief of individual fundraising at UNICEF Malaysia said, “An Inspired Gift purchased through the online store hosted by Rakuten, will make an immediate difference to the life of a child living in a vulnerable situation.

Our partnership with Rakuten will directly impact and improve the lives of thousands of children around the world, and we thank Rakuten for being a champion for children in need.”
