KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has perpetuated the late Anthony Kevin Morais by naming after its Moot Court here in his honour.

The name change took place today in conjunction with the anniversary of the MACC. It will be now known as the Kevin Morais Moot Court.

The move is one way to show appreciation to the late Deputy Public Prosecutor’s (DPP) contribution to the commission.

Morais had served the MACC for 10 years, from 2004 until his transfer to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) in July 2014.

Its Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed said Morais had provided a dedicated services with full commitment during completing MACC high-profile case until the end of his life despite having been transferred to the AGC.

"His dedication, firm, gentle and integrity will always be a reminder to all who worked with him," said Abu Kassim before officiating the Kevin Morais Moot Court.

Present at the ceremony were senior officials of the department of the Attorney General and Kevin's brother, Charles Suresh, David Ramesh and Datuk Richard Dilaan Morais.

"His name will continue to evolve as a fighter as well as integrity and will always be remembered by all MACC officers.

The Moot Court is operated by the Legal and Prosecution Cluster to provide MACC officers with basic investigations and regulations courses.

Morais, 55, went missing since Sept 4, before he was abducted and later killed. His body was discovered by the police in a concrete-filled oil drum in a swampy ravine in USJ 1, Subang Jaya Sept 16 covered in a sack and stuffed into an oil drum filled with wet concrete. The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) analysis showed the body to be that of Anthony.

On Monday, six suspects were charged with the DPP’s murder, while a military doctor and a mechanic were charged with abetment over his killing

The six charged with murder are G. Govindan, 47; S. Nimalan, 22; S. Subramaniam, 44; A. Thinesh Kumar, 22; M. Vishwanath, 44; and R. Dinishwaran, 22 .

They were charged with murdering Morais between 7am and 8pm somewhere along Jalan Dutamas Raya in Sentul and Jalan USJ 1/6D in Subang Jaya on September 4.

Pathologist Dr R. Kunasegaran 52, and mechanic A. Murugan, 44 were charged with abetment.
