KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional strategic communications director Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan tweeted today that every Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member should know better than to disclose any documents before the Committee presents the report to the House.

He said the Parliament Standing Order cleary states of no public disclosure until the evidence is presented to the House.

"Every PAC member knows this except prophet of doom & gloom," Rahman said, while referring to DAP lawmaker Tony Pua who is a PAC member.

Rahman who is Kota Belud MP said the The Premature Publication of Evidence under section 85 states the evidence taken before any Select Committee and any documents presented to such Committee shall not be published by any member of such Committee, or by any other person, before the Committee has presented its Report to the House.

Yesterday, PAC chairman chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said Pua will remain a member of PAC unless he is charged and proven guilty in a court of law,

The PAC is one of the several federal agencies scrutinising 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) for alleged wrongdoing, but Pua who has been a vocal critic of the state investor is now being investigated by authorities under Section 124 of the Penal Code for allegedly trying to overthrow the Barisan Nasional government.

Nur Jazlan had said Pua is still a PAC member until he is convicted and as for now he is just being investigated, adding that Pua could only be removed from PAC through one of two ways: if the parliamentary select committee that chose him decided to withdraw his appointment; or if his status as an MP is revoked.
