GURUN: THE Naza Group of Companies, through Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin Foundation, contributed RM400,000 in cash and kind to 32 recipients from schools, community centres, orphanages and the underprivileged during its corporate social responsibility programme at its manufacturing plant here, recently.

Aside from cash, contributions included a van and defraying the renovation and infrastructure costs for homes, mosques and community centres.

Naza Group of Companies chief executive SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin said the contribution was to help elevate the standard of living for all the residents in the state.

“We hope to do this large-scale corporate social responsibility initiatives on an annual basis,” he added.

Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) chief executive Datuk Redza Rafiq said that the NCIA fully backed this initiative by Naza and in 2012, NCIA had given RM3 million to the Naza group to buy two painting robots for their car production plant on the condition they organise corporate social responsibility activities.

“One of our conditions at the time we presented this was that Naza has to organise several corporate social responsibility activities for at least six years,” said Redza.

Also present at the event was State Industry and Investment Committee chairman Datuk Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail.
